<\/a>On the one hand, the\u00a0USDA reports show fewer students buying school lunch | News From Cox Washington Bureau (www.wsbtv.com<\/a>). \u00a0This is the kind of lunch the Obama’s want to force on to the general school public.<\/p>\nSo the question is who does this insanity actually hurt? \u00a0Well, the wealthy can, of course, afford these elite private schools. \u00a0So no harm there.<\/p>\n What about the middle class? \u00a0Not much harm there, either. \u00a0At least not in the long run. \u00a0More and more homeschoolers mean that many are not impacted at all. \u00a0Parochial and Protestant church schools insulate another large population. \u00a0For the kids in public schools there is a very practical solution; bring your lunch. \u00a0Most of the middle class can certainly afford that. \u00a0The school lunch is more of a convenience than anything. \u00a0Apparently, that is what is happening as the schools are losing millions due to lack of sales. \u00a0True, there have been a couple cases where a\u00a0school has tried to intervene and take away a child’s homemade lunch, but the backlash has been severe and those schools have quickly revised their policies.<\/p>\n That leaves the poor. \u00a0They may well not be able to afford to send the kids with their own lunch. \u00a0In these cases there is a choice between the child being hungry or being hungrier. \u00a0A hungry child is almost by definition a poor student, so they aren’t going to do as well in their education, limiting their ability to improve their lives. \u00a0What Michelle Obama has done is to perpetuate\u00a0poverty. \u00a0 She has helped to institutionalize an indentured class.<\/p>\n This is the inevitable result of Progressivism and Socialism. \u00a0By providing barely enough for subsistence, they create a self-perpetuating slave class. \u00a0With no way out, the poor often feel they have no choice but to vote for the very people that enslave them. \u00a0They are voting with their bellies, not their brains. \u00a0Their perception of need is reinforced by being fed stories of conservatives holding them back. \u00a0Yet the very images of the “Have’s” class they are shown are most often the very Progressives that keep them in servitude.<\/p>\n There is a positive out of this. \u00a0This is a rare\u00a0case where the Progressive, “Do it for the children,” message is for once not connected with spending more money. \u00a0You Two contrasting stories on Michelle Obama’s school lunch fiasco show the real result of progressive ideology.
