Either a lot of Republicans are just frustrated or stupid, or both — and they want a bomb-thrower. Or it is pro-Hillary Clinton Democrats voting in those polls. Trump is ruining the race for the serious Republican candidates and thereby helping Hillary immensely.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

My response:<\/p>\n

Dear Larry,<\/p>\n

\u00a0I have to take issue with you on two fronts.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. \u00a0\u201cHispanics are leftists.\u00a0 Period.\u201d\u00a0 No.\u00a0 We.\u00a0 Are.\u00a0 Not.\u00a0 My blog might be called www.conservativelefty.com<\/a>, but it is because I\u2019m left handed, not because I\u2019m a Progressive.\u00a0 (Well, it\u2019s also a play to classical liberalism and its tie to modern conservatism, but too many seem to lack the education to get it\u2026)\u00a0 In your defense, you live in SoCal, so I can understand from where you are coming.\u00a0 Having lived there 9 years, it was the only time in my 50-plus years that I was actually ashamed of my Mexican heritage.\u00a0 What I saw goes against everything in my upbringing regarding honor, hard work and respect.\u00a0 There are far more of us than anyone realizes.<\/li>\n
  2. \n

    We conservatives are not<\/strong> angry, as so many opinion writers keep claiming.\u00a0 We were<\/em> angry back in 2012 when the Party crammed Romney down our throats.\u00a0 Angry enough that enough voters walked away and chose to endure another four years of Obama.\u00a0 That wasn\u2019t me, but I did understand their position.\u00a0 We were honked off royally in 2014, when a mere couple weeks after handing Republicans landmark victories the turned around with a betrayal of historic proportions.\u00a0 Then the\u00a0Party had the hubris to push Jeb Bush at us with the message that we don\u2019t need the base.\u00a0 We are not angry.\u00a0 We are responding with the systematic dismantling of the political elite class.\u00a0 \u00a0The time for anger is long past.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    I do have to say though, you are correct.\u00a0 It is a mistake to think the Hispanic vote will matter for the Republican candidate.\u00a0 We already<\/em> have the votes the conservative Hispanics.\u00a0 We already<\/em> take an even harsher position than even Trump.\u00a0 One friend, back when I was in Santa Clarita was calling for .50cal pill boxes on the border.\u00a0 We will not\u00a0– cannot –\u00a0\u201cwin over\u201d the votes we don\u2019t already have.<\/p>\n

    \u00a0If we want the Hispanic vote, then we need to do 4 things:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. \u00a0Keep illegals away from the benefits of citizenship.\u00a0 That not only means voting, but all the other freebies Progressives hand out to buy their support.\u00a0 Being an American citizen is something precious; don\u2019t cheapen it.<\/li>\n
    2. \n

      Legal immigrants should\u00a0be allowed based on their intent to become citizens.\u00a0 This work here and send the money\/benefits\/privileges home is an insult to everyone who has – or whose predecessors has – busted their butts to come here.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    3. \n

      Assimilate.\u00a0 Progressives depend on isolation and division.\u00a0 Those immigrants that do work to become Americans should<\/em> become Americans.\u00a0 That is, they should – must – embrace the unique American culture.\u00a0 If not, why both coming here?\u00a0\u00a0 That doesn\u2019t mean one abandons their ethnic<\/em> pride\/culture.\u00a0 It does<\/strong> mean one embraces our national<\/em> pride\/culture.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    4. \n

      Be patient.\u00a0 The goal is achievable, but not in the next election (where it won\u2019t matter, anyway).\u00a0 The biggest weakness of conservatives is that they don\u2019t understand the long game.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      I do hope the Sage from South Central can put his frustration aside and regain his sagacity.<\/p>\n
