I sense a presumption that a government that isn&#8217;t doing something is failing. \u00a0That may be true of many governments, but you are forgetting that the American federal government is <em><strong>designed<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0to make it difficult to get anything done. \u00a0Federal action is supposed to require strong to overwhelming consensus of the general population <strong>and<\/strong> the individual States. \u00a0Most declared conservatives, and I believe a growing number of others, consider that most successful government the one that doesn&#8217;t accomplish much.<\/p>\n<p>2. More important, he is\u00a0assuming that the hindrance is a &#8220;faction.&#8221; \u00a0That is a dangerous error to make. \u00a0If it were merely a faction, I think it would have already been dealt with internally. \u00a0A few things to consider.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It has collected far more than 2 scalps. \u00a0Cantor and others fell back in the 2014 primaries.<\/li>\n<li>Many of those who were re-elected did so after facing legitimate challenge within the party.<\/li>\n<li>Approval within the party is at an all-time low.<\/li>\n<li>The presidential primary field. \u00a0It speaks for itself.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This isn&#8217;t a faction. \u00a0It&#8217;s a movement. \u00a0It&#8217;s grass roots. \u00a0It&#8217;s wide spread. \u00a0It&#8217;s growing. \u00a0<em>It has reached critical mass.<\/em> \u00a0It began in 2010. \u00a0It gave the establishment a chance in 2012. \u00a0It gave it another chance in 2014. \u00a0It was betrayed subtly in the former and openly in the latter. \u00a0Now there is a price to be payed as those who made the betrayals are reminded of what the &#8220;Party&#8221; actually is. \u00a0You are seeing the effect now in the House because the short election cycle allows the constituents to actively exercise power over the Representatives. \u00a0We&#8217;ve always had the power actually, we just have been to busy to use it. \u00a0Until now.<\/p>\n<p>It is exactly the same &#8220;phenomenon&#8221; that is happening in the presidential primary. \u00a0While it hasn&#8217;t happened yet, expect to see the same thing in the Senate. \u00a0It won&#8217;t be a visible do the the (again) design of the Senate to make it more ponderous, but it&#8217;s there.<\/p>\n<p>What all this means is that you&#8217;re not seeing a &#8220;faction.&#8221; \u00a0You&#8217;re seeing a government ruling <em>against<\/em> the will of the people and the checks built into the system kicking into play.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: Chaos: House Republicans in Complete Disarray, No Easy Fix in Sight &#8211; Guy Benson Guy\u00a0makes critical errors in your baseline assumption and that leads his\u00a0analysis astray. 1.
