Proposed regulation could keep 3D-printed gun blueprints offline for good | Fox News

The SignalYou can’t stop the signal, Mal.  Everything goes somewhere, and I go everywhere.

This isn’t actually a new story for those who follow 2nd Amendment issues, but the rest of you need to be aware of this as well.  It goes well beyond the impossible task of making 3D plans disappear from the web.

Those handy schematics to enable anyone to 3D print gun parts or even a weapon from scratch will not be able to for much longer thanks to a new proposal from the State Department.

This is a joint attack on both the 1st and 2nd Amendments.  What this story isn’t telling you is that these regulation changes don’t just prohibit 3D printer plans.  They are worded generically enough that they can be used to shut down online gun reviews, gun blogs, manufacturers sites, access to manuals or repair documents online, just as examples.

Go too far, give too much info on a gun?  The State Department – this isn’t even the ATF – will be able to shut you down.  The Obama administration can’t win a ban on AR-15’s or even the ammo?  Fine.  Pull discussions, specs, sales info, etc. offline in the name of “national security.”

People really need to go and post comment on this before the deadline.  I don’t know how much good it will do.  The State Department – i.e. John Kerry – is not the ATF, but we do need to make the voice of the people heard.  And please, please share this.
